What is Short code?
A short code is a shortened phone number, usually four to six digits, leased by a business for high-volume SMS. Short codes support high throughput and are widely used for keyword campaigns and two-way messaging.
Short codes are memorable, which makes them useful in print and broadcast advertising where a full mobile number is unwieldy. They are leased per market and carry a setup fee plus a monthly subscription.
In New Zealand, sending commercial SMS at volume typically runs over a short code rather than a long number.
