What is email to SMS?
Email to SMS is a gateway that converts a standard email into a text message. You address an email to [mobile]@emailtosms.texto.com.au, the gateway authenticates it, strips the formatting, and sends the body to the recipient's handset as an SMS. It's been the de-facto integration pattern for SMS since the 1990s because every system on earth can send an email.
How SMTP delivery works
Your mail client opens an SMTP connection to Texto's MX gateway. We check SPF and DKIM on the envelope, parse the message, strip HTML and signatures, take the subject as an optional prefix, then submit the body to the Texto SMS API for carrier delivery in Australia.
